Safety first

The outbreak of the Coronavirus has prompted the government to issue strict guidelines for the hospitality sector to avoid the possible transmission of the disease.    The health and wellbeing of our staff and customers are our top priority.  To help minimise the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the King’s Head Dullingham stays a safe place to visit we have put in place extra measures.

NHS Test and Trace
In order to support the NHS Test and Trace programme, we are taking contact details (name and telephone number) for all customers that visit the King’s Head Restaurant, as well as recording times entering and leaving.    We will keep your details safely and in compliance with GDPR legislation for 21 days before securely disposing of or deleting them. We will only share your details with NHS Test and Trace, if asked, in the event that it is needed to help stop the spread of coronavirus. We will not use your details for any other purposes or pass them on to anyone else.

Protecting you and our staff
All our staff will be temperature checked on arrival for their shift. Any member of staff that displays signs of a fever will be sent home and asked to self-isolate and contact the NHS-111 online COVID-19 services. All staff will be instructed to thoroughly wash their hands on arrival at work and at regular intervals throughout their shift.    Face masks and protective visors are not currently deemed mandatory in the government guidelines, but they are readily available to staff if required.

Cleaning and sanitising
Enhanced cleaning and sanitising regimes will be in place.  In addition to the regular cleaning carried out to ensure good food safety and hygiene, frequently touched areas such as counter tops, switches, chip and pin machines, and all contact surfaces, equipment and kitchen utensils will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitised.   All soft furnishings, cushions, etc have been removed to allow ease of cleaning and sanitising.   Hand sanitiser stations are positioned throughout the restaurant which we encourage our guests to use on arrival and during their visit.

Physical distancing
The King’s Head has been reconfigured to ensure our guests are able to follow the physical distancing guidelines. This includes removal of sofas and coffee table in the relaxed seating area, distancing of tables and allowing only one individual to use the bathrooms at a time.

Your visit

Please DO NOT visit the King’s Head if you answer yes to any of the following:  

  • In the last 14 days, do you think you may have had symptoms of COVID-19: fever, coughing, breathlessness, sore throat, loss or change in your sense of smell/taste?
  • In the last 14 days have you been in contact with someone who has COVID-19?
  • Do any members of your household currently have any symptoms of COVID 19?

The precautionary steps we have taken mean there has been some slight changes to your visit to the King’s Head.  We are asking all guests to arrive promptly at the time of their booking. Reservation times have been laid out to ensure minimal congestion in and out of the building

One way system
We have created a one-way system in and out of the restaurant to minimise crossing over and traffic between our guests.  Please enter via the Front Door and exit by the Side Door.

On entry
A hand sanitiser station has been set up upon entrance to the restaurant and we ask our guests to sanitise their hands before entering the premises.  Additional sanitiser stations have been set up in other areas of the restaurant.     We ask that you keep any coat/jackets/outerwear with you during your visit.  Please do not hang on the wall-mounted coat-hooks.

Pre-dinner drinks
To avoid congregation of guests and minimise risk, we are directing guests straight to their tables where your drinks order will be taken.

For the time being, all our menus will be ‘one-use’.  Our wine and drinks list will be presented in a wipeable presentation folder and disinfected after each use

Your meal
Salt and pepper condiments have been removed from the tables.  Disposable condiments are available upon request.    Staff will keep their distance during service and make minimal contact with our clients, whilst still providing a professional and attentive service

Payments via contactless card are preferred and a cough and sneeze screen will be place at the till.

We have installed locks on the first door of the bathrooms, as opposed to locks only on the individual cubicles. This provides our guests sole use of the bathrooms, preventing congregation in a small area and allowing our guests to maintain the physical distance guidelines.   Both bathrooms have hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes which we politely ask you to use to wipe down hard surfaces after use.

Even with the safety measures implemented by the King’s Head, it is impossible to eliminate all risk and there remains the potential for unintended transmission of COVID-19 between staff and customers/customers and staff.  We polity ask therefore that all customers play their part in minimising the risk to themselves and others and help reduce the spread of Covid-19
